AWC Committees
Want to get involved in AWC, but don't know how or who to contact? Below is a list of all of our committees, a short description of each and who to contact if you are interested.
Programs Committee
Contact: programs@awc-aa.org.
The Programs Committee develops fun and professional program ideas. Programs include things like panel discussions, presentations, classes, book readings, and parties. The Programs Committee ensures that the web site is updated and works with the VP of Publicity to get the word out. Besides arranging who will deliver the program, the Committee determines location, cost, date and time, and arranges the necessary catering.
Lunch Czar(ina)s
Lunch Contact: programs@awc-aa.org.
AWC networking lunches are managed by various women who take turns planning, advertising, and hosting AWC networking meals. They are open to everyone: members and non-members; women and men. These are informal affairs; no dress code is in place. Often business cards are exchanged, so it is a good idea to bring some.
Website Committee
Contact: awc-webmaster@awc-aa.org.
The main responsibilities of the Website Committee are building and updating the AWC website.
Election Committee
Contact: vp@awc-aa.org.
The main responsibilities of the Election Committee are to take nominations for AWC board positions and to conduct the election. This is a temporary committee that is convened every year in March and disbands after the election in June.
Business Sponsorship Committee
Contact: vp@awc-aa.org.
The Business Sponsorship Committee find firms that sponsor AWC via donations to our operating fund. They are listed on every page of our web site.
Students Committee
Contact: students@awc-aa.org.
One of AWC’s goals is to actively engage students in learning about computing and careers in computing. To this end, the Students Committee works with local schools and our fledgling sister chapter at the University of Michigan’s School of Information.
Job Luck Committee
Contact: careers@awc-aa.org.
The Job Luck Club meets at least once a month to review resumes, talk about interviewing skills, and provide support to one another. There is a special mailing list for job luck members.
